The Eugene Village School

Welcome to the Village School

The Eugene Village School

The Village School is a holistic, arts-integrated K-8 school that was founded in 2000 as one of Oregon's first charter schools. With a curriculum which incorporates Waldorf methods, the Village School provides a program which fully integrates the arts within an academic curriculum, educating the whole child—head, heart and hands. Movement, Handwork, Music and Spanish language classes are an integral part of the student's educational experience. We offer a unique educational experience that is unlike any other public school in this area.

A New School Year and a New Principal

Please give a warm welcome to Rick Reynolds, the new principal of the Village School! Mr. Reynolds has a wealth of experience and skills to share with the Village School community, including his passion for outdoor education and hands-on learning.

Village School Staff awarded an OEA Choice Trust Wellness Grant for 2nd year!

The Village School staff are excited and proud to announce that we have been reawarded an OEA Choice Trust wellness grant for the 2014-2015 school year! Our program is called Head, Heart and Hands--a Staff Wellness Program Focused on Finding and Maintaining Balance across our Lives. Our dynamic Wellness Committee will continue to organize healthy activites for staff members to decrease stress levels, improve emotional health and increase physical activity.

As part of this program, we continually seek out lots of parent and community support. Please let us know if you are a fitness instructor, therapist or wellness professional and are willing to teach staff fitness classes or give a presentation/workshop. Are you or someone you know looking to donate fitness equipment or do you have connections to getting equipment (like yoga mats or fitness DVDs) at a discount? Please let us know! We will also need help this month with putting together a wellness room, so let us know if you are interested in helping. Contributing your time to our staff wellness program is a great way to earn volunteer hours! Please contact Maureen in the office or email her at village@4j.lane.edu to help with our staff wellness program.

Village School in the News!

The Village School partnered with St. Vincent de Paul in honor of America Recycles Day.

St. Vincent de Paul donated 16 recycled bed springs to create a fence around the school garden area. The school will soon be constructing raised beds.

On Tuesday, November 15, 2011 Kevin O’Brian from St. Vincent de Paul worked with principal Bob Kaminski and third and fourth grade students to install 4 of the recycled bed springs.
